The Dengie Rocks Against Dementia

World Rock Against Dementia was a networked cultural initiative with towns all over the world organising their own local events on the same day, Saturday March 19th 2016.

Our shared objective was to raise awareness of the issues facing people living with dementia, and their carers, and to raise money for local dementia organisations.  In partnership with Burnham Town Council we held a series of events taking place along the quayside in Burnham on Crouch from 12pm – 8pm.

On Burnham’s quayside there was music, comedy, theatre, readings and inspirational speakers. At separate indoor spaces there was a Wellbeing Hub, offering activities and alternative therapies, and an Information Hub for various organisations to present their services.

This event was an important milestone in our work towards Burnham on Crouch and other places in the Dengie Peninsula becoming, and continuing to be, dementia-friendly.
